As a Network, we look to the future rather than to the past. While the roots of Vir-kun-en.com stretch back to the late 1980s, to the dream to save the world, our story is more about a series of moments linked with changes.
Late 1990s
The idea of Vir-kun-en.com started at the Court of First Instance in Moscow and developed in the Netherlands, at Leiden University. Olga Nickole Kuyan was working on Discretionary Justice during her first PhD research and on European Union Civil Procedure during her postdoctoral research. This is a power that gives creative input into Justice. She wanted to extend the Civil Procedure with a feature that allowed the judge to browse through legal norms and legal facts and zoom into (legal) consciousness. Hence, the Judicial Discretion was not unique in a stand-alone application. The specialists came up with the idea to export the Judicial Discretion into Russian Legislation and this was realized in the late 1990s.
In 2010 our Grand Tour in Italy started, from North to South, through different Italian Universities, law firms, applying different experiences, participating in different projects, international politics including, to learn more, to discover not only Italian Law but also the Mediterranean Lifestyle, including business (law) style. The most important events were the second PhD Research, done at the University of Pavia, Italy, and meeting with the Equal Justice Initiative by Brayan Stevenson.
In 2021 our Project at the University of Palermo, including Tenri University (Japan) and Tour University (France), started. We met many professors, professionals, We visited many villages of Sicily to learn more, to discover more. Our aim is to rediscover and introduce the Mediterranean Business/Life Style of wonderful Sicily. Our Grand Tour in Sicily promotes the experience of the Island(s). The Sicilian heritage of Business/Life Style is so interesting that it can be offered as a world-class reality. Sicily is full of Cultural UNESCO Heritage. Sicily is joyful Duomo of Cefalù and Monreale, the solemnity of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento, Selinunte and Segesta, the majestic Carnivals of Sciacca, Acireale, Termini Imerese and Regalbuto and so on. Sicily is full of ancient villages inhabited by communities far from traditional tourist routes, but full of small family businesses- builders of beauty, art, stories that intertwine with each other.
Sicily is not only sea and sun, "dolce far niente",but also mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, gorges and artisans, first of all! They are truly extraordinary!
Today, the Mediterranean Business/life Style of Sicily deserves to be re-evaluated through "experiences" by making clients, travellers, visitors and wayfarers aware of the small villages from those who are the custodians of the knowledge of a Cultural Heritage, Mediterranean LifeStyle including, that does not only refer to the material aspect but above all to the intangible aspect- to the beauty of the nerve centres of each village, each with its diversity.
Today
Focusing on the future and anticipating evolving client needs is not only about understanding where clients will need our services but also about how they want that services delivered. During the past few years, our Network has been at the forefront of developments that have changed fundamentally the management of consulting services– from the adoption of IT system- to investment in 'best-in-class' researching, learning and development to creation of Network Diffuso and business research center in Cefalu, Sicily. But whatever changes we have anticipated in the past are nothing compared with those that lie ahead of us. Our sights are set firmly on staying in the vanguard of our industry as it evolves to meet the demands of a more complex, faster changing, more connected world.
